Are all Welligogs coats waterproof?

Not all our coats are fully waterproof; however, we have a selection of waterproof coats and wax coats designed for wet weather. Our wool and velvet coats are suitable for cooler, dry conditions and provide excellent warmth. Check the individual product description for specific water resistance information.

How do I care for my waterproof coat or wax coat?

If you’re unsure on the best way to look after your new coat to ensure you get the best out of it, we have put together a helpful guide on how best to care for your coat. 

What’s the difference between the Louise Coat and the Odette Coat?

The Louise is a traditional British waxed cotton coat that needs to be re-waxed. It is water resistant, but due to it not having sealed seams will need retreating to maintain its rainproofing. The Odette is a dry waxed coat with a fully waterproof membrane and sealed seams. This is a completely waterproof coat, and because of the membrane, it does not need to be re-treated. The Odette is also machine washable (no higher than 30 degrees), whereas the Louise is not. 

What are your other traditional British wax coats?

Our other traditional waxed coats and jackets are the Cambridge and the Bristol. These are British-made coats and will need re-waxing to maintain their water-resistance. This is simple to do, just hang it on a coat hanger and use our Wax Spray, paying particular attention to the seams. 

How do I care for my tailored wool or velvet coat?

Should you spill anything on your coat, most things can be easily removed with a damp cloth and, if needed, a small amount of detergent. For a more thorough clean, please send it to the dry cleaners. Our tailored wool and velvets cannot be machine-washed.
