What to wear to the Cheltenham Festival 2018.
Ladies, it’s that time of year again and we cannot wait to hear the Cheltenham roar in just a few weeks! Spread across 4 days, the Cheltenham Festival is a highlight of the racing calendar and the atmosphere is unbeatable. It’s an amazing opportunity to witness the best in the business compete on some of the most difficult courses in the country.
The Festival is a real celebration of British style and clothing and is the perfect chance to dress to impress. In fact, one of our favourite things about Cheltenham is seeing all the gorgeous outfits and colours in the stands. In need of some inspiration? Check out our Cheltenham outfit planner and let us help you get Cheltenham ready.
Tuesday 13th – Champion Day
Victoria Pendleton looked so good in our Demelza coat and Mayfair boots at Cheltenham last year, it had to be our first outfit of choice. Not to mention that both Clare Balding and Anita Rani are also big fans of it. Our Demelza is available in 4 different glorious colours, so there’s one for everyone! Team it with a pair of Mayfair boots, Fedora hat and feather pin to complete the look.
If you want to really dress for the occasion, Alison Roe Millinery has some incredible headpieces. We particularly love the ‘Karen’, a plum pink tweed headpiece with pheasant feathers that would be a gorgeous addition to our navy or grey Demelza coat.
Wednesday 14th – Ladies Day #ColourMeMarch
This year, Ladies Day is all about a splash of colour. Accessorize well and you could be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes! For a splash of colour we love our Kensington jacket – this gorgeous black and red tailored jacket is the epitome of chic. BBC presenter Lee McKenzie and fashion blogger Fleur de Londres are both big fans of this on-trend jacket. Accessorize this some brown or black Mayfair boots, which come with a red tassel, our stretch cotton Phoebe shirt and either our red fedora or for some real glamour, go for the gorgeous ‘Wren’ cocktail hat from Maggie Mowbray Millinery. This stunning piece of headwear plus our striking Kensington check jacket would really make you stand out from the crowd!

Thursday 15th – St Patrick’s Thursday
With a hint of sage green running through our Balmoral tailored jacket, we think it’s the perfect nod to St Patrick’s day whilst keeping your outfit beautifully elegant. Team it with a pair of brown Mayfair boots. For a final flourish you could add a beautiful silk velvet hat from Jessica Mary Design (who will be on stand 16 at Cheltenham). The subtle tones in the Balmoral mean you can easily add a flash of colour. Not a fan of hats? This gorgeous Electra Gold Chrysoprase ring from Emily Mortimer would be the perfect, sparkling addition to celebrate the Emerald Isle.
If neutral tones aren’t for you then try our Knightsbridge Jacket, similar in style to the Balmoral but in a blue and red colourway. Kate Harrington, amateur jockey and assistant trainer to Jessica Harrington, wore it at Gowran Park last weekend (pictured below with Camilla Speirs, Olympic Event Rider, wearing our Demelza coat and navy Fedora hat) teamed with our navy Mayfair boots and the stunning ‘Sinead’ headpiece from Alison Roe Millinery – you can get the look from Red Mills Store which stocks both Welligogs and Alison Roe.

Friday 16th – Gold Cup Day
For such a special day you need a remarkable outfit and we think our Burghley Tailored jacket is just the ticket. Classic in its design, the velvet trim and gold buttons on the Burghley really make this jacket a true winner. Clare Abbott won Burghley Horse Trials Best Dressed Lady competition wearing it! Team it with black Mayfair boots and another gorgeous hat from Jessica Mary Design for the perfect outfit. We particularly like the ‘Black Plume’ because its champagne, white and black feathers match the Burghley jacket rather well.
If you’re after a coat rather than a jacket, we recommend our Elizabeth – a truly stunning elegant long coat which is available in black, navy or mocha. Team it with a pair of our Mayfair boots or some striking heels for a winning outfit.
